India vs Sri Lanka: Lanka Destroys Mighty Indian Batting Lineup

Rohit Sharma and company lost the second India vs Sri Lanka ODI. Jeffrey Vandersay dominates the entire Indian batting lineup. 

India lost the second ODI of the three-match India vs Sri Lanka series. The Sri Lankan bowlers decimated the Indian batting lineup, including star player Virat Kohli. Head coach Gautam Gambhir’s strategies failed to deliver. As a result, India lost all its wickets in just 42.2 overs.

With this victory, Sri Lanka leads the series 1-0. They won the second ODI by 32 runs. The first India vs Sri Lanka series match ended in a tie with no result. Following this defeat, India now has no chance to win the series. Their batters struggled significantly against the Lankan spin attack.

India vs Sri Lanka Highlights 

Sri Lanka won the toss and choosed to bat first, setting a total of 240-9 in their allotted 50 overs.

The Sri Lankan innings saw contributions from multiple players. Avishka Fernando provided a steady start with 40 runs off 62 balls, including five boundaries. Kamindu Mendis bolstered the middle order with a crucial 40 runs off 44 balls, hitting four fours. Dunith Wellalage added a quickfire 39 runs off 35 balls, which included three fours and two sixes, propelling Sri Lanka to a competitive total. 

The Indian bowlers put up a good effort. Washington Sundar was the pick of the bowlers, taking three wickets for 30 runs in his ten overs. Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with two wickets for 33 runs.

In response, the Indian batting lineup struggled against the Sri Lankan bowling attack and were all out for 208 in 42.2 overs. Rohit Sharma was the top scorer for India with 64 runs off 44 balls, featuring five fours and four sixes. However, the rest of the batting order failed to build significant partnerships. Shubman Gill managed 35 runs off 44 balls, while Axar Patel scored 44 off 44 balls. 

The Sri Lankan bowlers, especially Jeffrey Vandersay, who took six wickets for 36 runs, dismantled the Indian batting order. Charith Asalanka also contributed with three wickets for 20 runs.
