MI vs CSK: Chennai beats the rivals in style at their home

MI vs CSK has always been considered a hot game throughout the history of IPL. owever, in today’s tight battle between rivals MI and CSK, Chennai won the battle.

MI vs CSK highlights

The 29th match of IPL 2024, MI vs. CSK, took place in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The home team, Mumbai Indians, won the toss and elected to bat first.

CSK Batting

Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra came to open for Chennai Super Kings. However, the visitor did not get a good start this time and lost their first in the second over. Ajinkya Rahane went back after scoring five runs on eight balls.

Captain Gaikwad and Rachin tried to handle the situation. They played the powerplay without losing wickets and maintained a good run rate. However, in the eighth over, Shreyas Gopal sent Ravindra back to the pavilion. Ravindra played 21 runs inning on 16 balls, with one six and two fours.

Shivam Dube and Gaikwad Partnership

The new man on crease, Shivam Dube, started in style and allowed the skipper to play without pressure. Gaikwad and Dube built a 90 runs crucial partnership. Gaikwad scored 69 off 40 balls with five massive sixes and five fours.

Dube went not out after scoring fast 66 runs on 38 balls. He smashed ten impactful boundaries and two towering sixes.

Dhoni’s Continues Sixes

The man, the myth, the legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to the crease in the 20th over. Dhoni proved why the world calls him the greatest finisher in cricket. He continuously smashed three sixes at the opposition captain, Hardik Pandya.

Although he scored only 20 runs, Mahi’s strike rate was the highlight of this MI vs. CSK match. With his quick contribution, CSK reached a good total of 206 runs.

MI bowling

None of the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers managed to make a mark in the MI vs. CSK match. Skipper Hardik Pandya found success with two wickets, but it seemed more by luck than skill. Pandya conceded 43 runs in just three overs, with an economy rate of over 14. Gopal and Coetzee also chipped in with one wicket each, but overall, the Mumbai Indians’ bowling display was underwhelming.

MI Batting

Mumbai Indians took a very good start and scored 70 runs without losing any wickets. Rohit and Ishan Kishan looked dangerous and set until Pathirana to attack. They maintained a run rate of almost ten runs per over.

Pathirana’s Counterattack

The Mumbai Indians seemed to have a firm grip on the game until Pathirana stepped up to bowl. The formidable Sri Lankan bowler struck early, claiming Kishan’s wicket and denting MI’s momentum.

Surya, a key player for MI, entered the fray after Kishan’s departure, but Pathirana swiftly dismissed him, too, denying Surya any opportunity to settle in.

However, classical Tital Verma gave some hope to Mumbai fans in the MI vs CSK game. Tilak and Rohit built a good partnership and scored 130 without losing more wickets.

But Pathirana striked again and took the wicket of well settled Tilak Verma who scored 31 runs.

Hardik Pandya’s poor performance

Although the former MI captain Rohit Sharma tried to one end nicely, no batsman from the second end contributed enough. Hardik Pandya continued his poor bowling performance in batting as well. He scored only two runs after playing six balls and returning to the dressing room.

In the end, even after Rohit’s 105 runs in an impactful inning, MI lost the game by 20 runs.

MI vs CSK match heroes.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, and Mahendra Singh Dhoni played well for their respective teams. However, the real heroes of today’s MI vs CSK match are Rohit Sharma and Matheesha Pathirana

Rohit Sharma – MI lost the game, but not with a big difference. This is all because of Rohit Sharma’s 105 runs inning. He fought till the end and made the difference much less than it could be. Sharma smashed five towering sixes in his innings and 15 fours as well.

Patheesha Pathirana – Pathirana’s impactful spell played a crucial role in CSK’s victory. Without his effective bowling, the outcome of the match could have been vastly different. Pathirana’s 4 wickets are the main reason behind the CSK victory.
