Taylor Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department” has been incredibly successful in its first week of release. Billboard reports the album earned 2.61 million album-equivalent units in its first week. These numbers show the kind of responses and love TTPD receives from various platforms.

In addition, The Tortured Poets Department has crossed the highest one-week total for any album in nine years, a significant achievement in the music industry. It demonstrates the widespread popularity and strong demand for Taylor Swift’s music, reaffirming her status as a top-tier artist with a dedicated fan base.

She shared a post on X, formally known as Twitter, to thank Swifties. Taylor stated, “Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life.” 

Swift’s new album, TTPD, has set a record for the highest streaming numbers in one week. It received 891.37 million on-demand streams, about 150 million higher than Drake’s Scorpion, the previous record holder

Adele’s “25” is the most significant success in one week’s time span in terms of AEUs. It earned 3.482 million album-equivalent units in one week in 2015. Adele’s album is considered “unrepeatable” due to changes in how music is consumed since 2015. 

However, The Tortured Poets Department is considered a better success, considering the following factors. 

Taylor has also beaten her 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which received 1.653 million in its first week. Not only streaming, but the Tortured Poets Department has also set records in copy selling. She sold 1.914 million copies in its first week, the third biggest sale for any album since 1991.

Adele’s 25, with 3.378 million copies, and NSYNC’s No Strings Attached, with 2.416 million copies, are the only two albums that sold more album copies than Taylor Swift.
