Bharat Bandh: Reasons for the Protest and Impact on Market

The Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a Bharat Bandh on August 21. People, especially from the SC/ST community, will protest against a recent Supreme Court decision on the reservation.

Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti and its allies have called for a nationwide bandh. The protest will surely impact the market on a big scale. However, since it is not a government or politically announced protest, most of the markets will remain open.

Additionally, the market committees have not shown interest in this strike or supported the Bharat Bandh. Still, with the people’s safety in mind, law and enforcement agencies have made the necessary arrangements. Tomorrow, a large deployment of police and military forces can be seen in residential areas.

Also, there is a possibility of changes in traffic rules and overpasses in crowded areas.

Why is Bharat Bandh?

The Reservation Bachao Sangharsh Samiti has called for a nationwide strike. The Samiti, along with its supporting bodies, has decided to protest against a recent Supreme Court ruling. The protesters believe that the decision on reservations may negatively impact the reserved rights of SC and ST communities.

The protest is in response to the court’s decision. The Supreme Court has called for the creation of subcategories within the SC and ST communities, similar to the creamy layer concept in the OBC community.

RBSS believes that implementing this ruling will divide the rights of SC and ST communities. They also argue that it could weaken the reserved rights of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Will Liquor Shops Be Closed During Bharat Bandh?

After nearly a month of Sawan and an additional Tuesday, liquor enthusiasts are concerned about the status of liquor shops during the Bharat Bandh. The good news is that no specific notice has been issued to shop owners, so liquor shops will remain open during the Bharat Bandh.

However, in certain situations, local authorities might order the closure of shops in specific areas. Officially, though, all liquor shops are expected to be open tomorrow.

Will Banks and Post Offices Be Closed Tomorrow?

No, this is not a government-organized strike or holiday. All government and private offices, including banks and post offices, will remain open during the Bharat Bandh.
