India clinched their third consecutive win of the T20 World Cup to qualify for the next round. Suryakumar Yadav smashed a massive fifty on a completely unpredictable pitch.
The US won hearts against a formidable Indian team but unfortunately could not win the match. Despite India clinching victory in the final phase, America demonstrated its strength by fighting till the end.
In the 25th match of the ICC T20 World Cup, the USA batted first and set a target of 111 runs for the mighty Indian team. NR Kumar played a swift innings, scoring 27 runs, and became the highest run-getter for his team.
However, Suryakumar Yadav, representing India, scored nearly double (50) to secure the win. India won the match in 18.2 overs with seven wickets in hand. The match-winning pair of Surya and Dube went back, but not out.
How Will the India vs. US Match Impact the Race for the Super Eight?
Before this match, both India and the USA had 4 points each. Both teams needed 2 points to qualify for the Super 8. By winning the India vs. USA match, India has secured a spot in the tournament’s next stage.
However, the US cricket team will now have to win their last group stage match to confirm their spot in the Super Eight. America can also secure their ticket to the next round of the T20 World Cup if Pakistan loses its next match against Ireland.
Additionally, the India vs. US match result has directly benefited the Pakistan cricket team. If India had lost this match or the match had continued until the last ball, the path to the Super 8 would have been almost closed for Pakistan.
Even though Pakistan has benefited a lot from today’s match, its chances are still less than the USA. Pakistan will have to win their next match to keep their campaign alive. However, they can qualify even without winning their next match.
