Once known primarily for their batting prowess, India now boasts a well-rounded team. They are capable of excelling in all facets of the game. Their formidable fast bowling lineup, led by Jasprit Bumrah, and their potent spin attack, featuring Kuldeep Yadav, complement a strong batting lineup. This lineup includes stars like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Virat Kohli.

India has dominated the World Cup, winning all seven matches. Different players have stepped up as match-winners each time. The victory against England showcased multiple standout performances, making it difficult to choose a single player of the match. Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Suryakumar Yadav all delivered match-winning contributions.

Most importantly, India has secured their place in the World Cup final. They have exacted revenge for their semi final defeat by England in 2022. This victory also marks the fourth-highest margin of victory in T20 World Cup history for the Men in Blue.

India vs England Match Highlights

The match started with a surprising decision from England to bowl first after winning the toss. India came to bat first but did not get a good start. King Kohli again failed to live up to his own high standards, scoring only nine off nine before heading back to the pavilion. The new batsman, Rishabh Pant, also seemed out of form and lost his wicket early.

However, skipper Rohit Sharma and the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav built a strong and fast partnership to recover from the initial setbacks. Rohit played a 57-run innings while Surya contributed with 47. Their strike rates were questioned until Pandya and the other players came to bat. After watching the struggles of Jadeja, Dube, and Axar, it was clear that the pitch was not good for batting.

India added 171 runs to the scoreboard, setting England a target of 172 to win the match. However, England’s batting collapsed like a house of cards, with the entire team dismissed for just 103 runs.

In England’s innings, the standout feature was the Indian spin bowling. For the initial three overs, Jos Buttler was hitting big shots. However, once Axar Patel came into the attack, the English batsmen were on the back foot. First Axar, and then Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each to break the backbone of England’s batting. Jasprit Bumrah also claimed two wickets, while two players were run out.

After winning the match, India successfully entered the World Cup final. With a shameful defeat, England will soon return home.
