India W vs South Africa W: India Beats South Africa in a High Scoring Match

Girls in Blue won India W vs South Africa W by a bare margin of 4 runs despite scoring 325 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur contributed to the victory by scoring centuries. 

Girls never disappoint when it comes to generating thrill and excitement in cricket. All the Cricket lovers, especially from India, had their eyes on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. However, while the men struggled to reach even a fifty, the women’s teams did it with ease, racking up four centuries in a single match.

India W vs South Africa W was a complete package for cricket enthusiasts. Although the bowlers had a tough time, the batters provided outstanding entertainment for the audience.

India W took on South Africa W in the second ODI match of India W vs South Africa. India, while batting first, set a huge target of 326 runs for South Africa. 

However the target was not easy to chase, African girls fought till the last ball. While India emerged victorious in this match, Africa deserves full credit for their commendable efforts. 

In response to the two centuries by Indian batters, Laura Wolvaardt and Marizanne Kapp smashed great centuries for Africa.

South Africa won the toss and invited India to bat first. India got a decent start with 30+ runs in the first 10 overs. However, Shafali Verma, who was struggling from the first ball faced, lost her wicket early. 

India lost its first in the 12th over when Mlaba sent her back to the pavilion on a personal total of 20 runs. However, Smriti Mandhana, in collaboration with Hemalatha, reconstructed the innings and took it to 100+. 

Hemlata lost her wicket on a personal score of 24 runs off 41 balls. Now, skipper Kaur joined the party and showcased her class. Kaur and Madhana took India to 271 from 100. 

The biggest blow for the home team occurred when the well settled Mandhana lost her wicket. Smriti scored 136 off 120 balls with 18 fours and 2 sixes. Harmanpreet Kaur also scored 103 runs on just 88 balls. Her inning was decorated with nine fours and three sixes. 

India set a huge target of 326 runs for South Africa. 

South Africa batting 

Like India, South Africa also lost his first wicket early, when Tazmin lost her wicket on a personal score of five runs. Opener Laura Wolbaardt was securing one end and playing good cricket. However, on the other hand, players were coming and going after scoring poor totals. 

Africa lost its 3 wickets for a total of 67 runs. However, they bounce back when Marizaane joins Laura. They both smashed good centuries, Laura 135 and Kapp 114. Laura smashed 12 fours and 3 sixes. While Kapp scored 114 runs off 94, 11 fours and three sixes. 

However, at the end, India won the match by a bare margin of 4 runs. Bowlers were not so effective on the Chinnaswamy ground. 

Harmanpreet Kaur received Player of the Match title for her great batting in the match.
