Music Legend and Show Host Johnny Canales Dies at 77

Johnny Canales, the famous Mexican Tejano singer and host of “The Johnny Canales Show,” has passed away. Social media is soaked with reactions from fans and stars, expressing their grief and sharing heartfelt tributes.

One of the Mexican Tejano legends, Johnny Canales, passed away on Thursday morning, June 13. His wife, Nora, announced his passing on social media. The host of “The Johnny Canales Show” was 77 years old at the time of his death.

In her Facebook post, Nora called him a beacon of hope and joy for countless people. She wrote, “Canales was more than just a beloved husband, father, TV host, musician, and entertainer; he was a beacon of hope and joy for countless people.” 

Nora also stated that Johnny promoted Latino music and culture all across the world. She added in her post, “His infectious charisma and dedication to promoting Latino music and culture left a large mark on the world. Johnny’s spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touched and the legacy he built.” 

She concluded the statement by thanking people who always supported her and her husband, even in this situation. “We thank you all for your kind words, love, and support during this difficult time. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers,” she wrote. 

Nora also appealed to people to remember Johnny Canales but in a different way. “Remember him not with sadness, but with the joy and passion he always brought into our lives.” 

Johnny received various awards for his contributions to music and television, including recognition from the Tejano Music Awards. 

Johnny Canales Career 

Johnny was born in Mexico but later moved to Texas, United States. In his early days, Canales also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War before starting his entertainment career. 

Johnny embarked on on his entertainment career mainly as a Television host of the Spanish-language show, “The Johnny Canales Show.” The show was also a major platform for Latin music and culture, especially Tejano music.
