Switzerland to Launch Suicide Pod for Quick Death

Switzerland is set to launch the Sarco Capsule, or suicide pod, an accessible method for assisted suicide. Priced at just $20, this device offers individuals the option to end their lives peacefully within 10 minutes.

It is uncertain whether to call it an innovation or a path to destruction. While many countries, like India, consider suicide a crime, Switzerland is offering a means to ease suicide. The country is set to sell death at just $20.

The Sarco Capsule, introduced in 2019, was designed to assist those seeking a dignified death. Now, the suicide pod will be available in Switzerland starting August 2024, making euthanasia accessible at the cost of an expensive coffee cup.

While it can be beneficial for a handful of people, suicide pods are getting criticism from a vast audience. People are not happy with the invention as it can kill people without giving them a second chance.

How does suicide pod or Sarco Capsule work?

The Sarco Capsule is a device that replaces oxygen with nitrogen. When an individual enters the capsule, the nitrogen level rapidly increases. In the absence of oxygen, the person quickly loses consciousness and dies due to hypoxia.

According to the company, the suicide pod ensures a death without severe difficulties, completing the process within 10 minutes.

Is it legal to use suicide pods in Switzerland?

Assisted suicide is legal in Switzerland under specific conditions. While Swiss law does not have a specific act explicitly permitting assisted suicide, it is allowed under Article 115 of the Swiss Criminal Code.

According to Florian Willet, the CEO of Last Resort, there are no legal barriers to using the Sarco Capsule in Switzerland, as it complies with the laws permitting assisted suicide.
