Indian women’s cricket team secured their second consecutive victory in the Women’s Asia Cup. They delivered a dominant performance, defeating the UAE team by a substantial margin of 78 runs.

After defeating arch-rival Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup, India continued their winning streak by overpowering the UAE team. This time, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Richa Ghosh led their team to victory.

In a display of consistent dominance, India once again delivered an all-round performance to defeat the UAE. While the bowlers didn’t maintain the same level of performance as in the match against Pakistan, they ensured the opposition couldn’t chase the target.

Setting a massive target of 202 runs, the Indian women restricted the UAE to just 123 runs in 20 overs. Youngster Tanuja Kanwar was impressed with her bowling economy during the Women’s Asia Cup.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, the UAE Women won the toss and chose to bowl first.

India’s Innings:

India got off to a brisk start, with Shafali Verma leading the charge. She scored a quickfire 37 runs off 18 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes before being dismissed by Samaira Dharnidharka. Smriti Mandhana, her opening partner, fell early, contributing only 13 runs.

The innings saw turbulence when India lost Hemalatha for just two runs and Rodrigues for 14. However, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur steadied the ship with a masterful 66 off 47 balls. She found an excellent partner in Richa Ghosh, who played a blistering knock of 64 not out off just 29 balls. Richa smashed two fours and six sixes.

Harmanpreet and Richa powered India to an imposing total of 201/5 in their 20 overs. The UAE bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught. Kavisha Egodage took two wickets but conceded 36 runs in her four overs.

UAE’s Innings:

Chasing a daunting target of 202, the UAE Women had a shaky start. Theertha Satish, their wicketkeeper-batter, was the first to fall, caught by Harmanpreet Kaur off Renuka Singh’s bowling for just four runs. Wickets continued to tumble as Rinitha Rajith and Samaira Dharnidharka fell cheaply.

Captain Esha Rohit Oza tried to anchor the innings with a solid 38 off 36 balls, but her efforts were in vain. Kavisha Egodage showed some resistance, remaining unbeaten on 40 off 32 balls. Despite their efforts, the UAE batters couldn’t keep up with the required run rate.

Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking two wickets for 23 runs in her four overs. Tanuja Kanwar was equally impressive, giving away just 14 runs in her four overs while claiming a wicket. The Indian bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. As a result, UAE could only manage 123/7 in their 20 overs.

India Women secured a comprehensive 78-run victory, showcasing their Women’s Asia Cup dominance.
