Women's Asia Cup: Indian Girls Destructed Pakistan

No relief for Pakistan cricket fans. Pakistan cricket tasted another defeat against India in the Women’s Asia Cup.

Here is another disappointing defeat for Pakistan against their arch-rivals, India. The women in blue won the Dambulla match by a significant margin, dominating Pakistan in both bowling and batting.

Deepti Sharma with the ball and Smriti Mandhana with the bat proved decisive for Pakistan. Their performances contributed significantly to India’s resounding 7-wicket victory in the Women’s Asia Cup. Despite the loss, Syeda Aroob Shah stood out as the lone bright spot for Pakistan.

India vs Pakistan Highlights

In the second Women’s Asia Cup 2024 match, arch-rivals India and Pakistan faced off in a high-pressure game. Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first against Harmanpreet Kaur’s squad, which proved costly for skipper Nida Dar.

Although the opening pair of Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali showed promise in the first over, they both lost their wickets early, with Pakistan losing their first wicket at nine runs in the second over. The situation quickly worsened as the entire Pakistan team collapsed like a house of cards.

By the end of the 13th over, six Pakistani batters had fallen to the dangerous duo of Renuka and Pooja. Despite some efforts by Tuba, Pakistan ended their innings in 19.2 overs after losing all their wickets.

Ameen scored a maximum of 25 off 35 balls for Pakistan. Contributions from Tuba Hassan and Aroob Shah, who each scored 22 runs, helped Pakistan reach a total of 108.

Deepti Sharma took three wickets, while Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar claimed two wickets each for India.

Indian Batting

India played exceptionally well in response to Pakistan’s modest target of 109 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma built a strong partnership of 85 runs in just 9.3 overs. Although India lost Mandhana at 85 and Verma at 100, Dayalan Hemalatha and Harmanpreet Kaur ensured India’s victory.

India secured their first win of the Women’s Asia Cup in just 14.1 overs. Verma scored 40 off 29 balls, while Mandhana contributed 45 off 31 balls.
