In the second match of the Women’s Premier League, RCB went head-to-head with the UP Warriors. RCB secured a comfortable victory in this RCB vs UP Warriorz match. They won their first by two runs.

The Women’s Premier League witnessed a thrilling showdown between Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz in a blockbuster match. Despite being an exciting encounter, it ended with a bittersweet outcome for UP fans as their team suffered a heart-wrenching defeat, marking their first loss of the season.

For RCB fans, it was a pleasurable battle as they won their first match in the WPL 2024. Wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh played a fantastic knock for her team and gave RCB fans some medicine for their wounds from last year. 

RCB vs UP Warriorz highlights 

RCB Batting 

RCB did not get a good start in their first WPL match. Sophie Devine lost her wicket early at a total personal score of one run on five balls. Captain Mandhana was also not that impressive today and scored only 13 runs on 11 balls. 

Meghana emerged as the linchpin for her team, playing a pivotal innings by scoring 53 runs off 44 deliveries. Her innings featured one six and seven well-placed boundaries, culminating in a well-deserved half-century.

Richa Ghosh also played a very fast inning of 62 runs after facing just 37 balls. Richa hit 12 boundaries in her innings and took RCB to a good total of 157 runs. 

Rajeshwari Gayakwad got a maximum of 2 wickets for RCB. Dipti, Sophie, Tahlia, and Harris also got one wicket each. 

UP Warriorz batting 

In the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, UP won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. Alyssa Healy, captain, and Vrinda Dinesh came as the opening pair for UP. The Uttar Pradesh team did not get a good start and lost their captain with a total score of just ten runs. Alyssa scored only five runs on four balls and went back to the pavilion. 

Vrinda Dinesh struggled to make an impact for her team, departing after a slow innings of 18 runs. Nonetheless, Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris stepped up to the plate, offering a much-needed solution to UP Warriorz’s challenging innings.

McGrath showcased her batting prowess, scoring 22 runs, including one towering six and two well-timed fours, in just 18 deliveries. Meanwhile, Harris impressed with a brisk innings of 38 runs off just 23 balls, featuring two powerful sixes and four boundaries. 

Shweta Sehrawat’s 31 runs proved very crucial to take UP to 155 runs. However, in the end, RCB won the battle by two runs.
