Kiki Wong is a popular social media artist with more than 684k followers on Instagram. She wrote herself a professional author and guitarist. The new member of Smashing Pumpkins is known for her short videos of playing guitar.
She has written “The 30-Day Travel Challenge,” according to her official website. In addition, Kiki Wong has also worked with some trendsetters in the music industry. Taylor Swift, Bret Michaels, Usher etc, are some famous names who have worked with Kiki.
According to WOXIKON, the 35-year-old guitarist was born in the United States. We don’t have any clue about her net worth. However, she has been connected with music and guitar since childhood, as her father is also from the same profession.
Why Kiki Wong Joined Smashing Pumpkins?
Kiki Wong is joining Smashing Pumpkins because the former guitarist Jeff Schroeder has left the band. She will now handle the guitarist position at one of the most popular bands globally.
The band announced the vacancy of guitarist at the start of 2024. They received almost 10k applications for the position, and they finalized Kiki Wong. According to the band members, Kiki was their favorite from even before she joined the band.
The oldest band member, Corgan, said, “I was a fan of Kiki’s before she submitted her name to be considered – and it’s great that someone of her acumen will be part of our touring family.”
He added, “I can’t wait to hit the road with Kiki as part of our mad circus. It’s definitely an exciting moment for The Smashing Pumpkins to be this busy with touring in 2024. We’ll see you all this summer.”
Kiki Wong welcomed the decision of the band and said, “It’s been an absolute wild ride, but I am beyond honored and humbled to be chosen to perform alongside some of rock’s greatest and most influential musicians of all time.”
Why did Jeff Schroeder leave the band?
As per the joint announcement by Jeff and SP, the guitarist left the band to explore other paths. However some people speculate some internal issues between the guitarist and band members, no reason is unwrapped yet.
While leaving the band, Jeff happily said, “Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path,” Schroeder explained. “I wish the band all the success in the future. I will be watching and listening.”
