England won the toss and decided to bat first, which proved to be their worst decision. The opening pair of Zak Crawley and Duckett gave them a good start. However, it is a different matter that they could not convert the good start into the best start.

England lost their first wicket at a total score of 64 runs in the 18th over. Duckett scored 27 runs before Kuldeep Yadav returned him to the dressing room. Ollie Pope was looking in a hurry and went back early on Chinaman’s ball. He contributed to his team with a poor total of 11 runs.

Jack Crawley looked dangerous in this India vs England fifth Test, like in his previous matches. However, Kuldeep had other plans and sent Jack back when England was at 175. Crawley played a 79-run innings for his team.

The rest of the English batsmen did not look very interested in this formal test match. No one tried to spend some time at the crease and kept coming and going. Foakes with 24, Root with 26 and Bairstow with 29 runs, contributed poorly.

Kuldeep Yadav gets a five wicket haul and his spin partner R. Ashwin also took 4 wickets. The remaining one wicket went in Jadeja’s account.
