Scottish Premiership: Celtic Beat St Johnstone to Secure the Top Spot

The Celtics got their crown back after brutally smashing St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership. They win by 3-1, a massive difference.

Highlights

The Scottish Premiership brought another exciting game for fans when the defending champions played a dominating game against St Johnstone. Celtic not only won the game by a considerable margin of 2 goals.

The defending champions secured 3 goals on Saturday, while the opposition hardly managed to secure one goal. Kyogo Furuhashi, James Forrest and Nicolas Kuhn scored one goal each.

On the other side, Connor Smith was the only man who scored a goal for St Johnstone. Celtic has now secured the first position in the Scottish Premiership standings. However, their core competitors, Rangers, are just one point away to level the points and two points to be on the top.

At the same time, the losing club, St Johnstone, is in the 10th position with 28 points in their account.

Kyogo Furuhashi won the title of player of the match between Celtic and St Johnstone. Although he scored only one goal like his fellow team scorers, his efforts were better than the entire team.

What did Brendan Rodgers say?

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was happy about the team’s victory and first position. In a statement, he said, “Very pleased. Very good performance. He was happy but not completely satisfied like a father, Rodgers added, “Scored three goals, could have had more. Overall, really, really pleased. Good penetration.”

He shared his thoughts on every particular goal: “Really, really good first goal. The second one has to make up a lot of ground after our pressing and great ball by Kyogo (player of the match). Jamesy gets the third one. Really professional job. Hopefully, fingers crossed, the players come back after the international break all well.”
