Top Highlights of Michigan Central Station reopening event 

In addition to the surprise performance by Eminem, there are more highlights of Michigan Central Station reopening. 

Michigan Central Station highlights include; 

Diana Ross Opens the Show

Diana Ross took the responsibility to start the show with hits like “I’m Coming Up,” “Upside Down,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” Diana’s performance brought the crowd to its feet and set a high-energy tone for the evening. 

Eminem’s surprise performance 

No doubt, the surprise performance by Eminem was the main highlight of the Michigan Station reopening concert. He thrilled the audience with a four-song performance. Eminem also introduced his new single, “Houdini,” during his performance. 

Jack White’s Nostalgic Set

Jack White performed a three-song set, including his new track “One Up,” and praised Michigan Central as “a diamond that came out of the rough.” 

Tribute to Bob Seger

The concert also included a tribute to legendary singer and songwriter Bob Seger. Melissa Etheridge, Jelly Roll, and Fantasia paid tribute with performances of Mainstreet, Turn the Page, and Shakedown. 

Big Sean’s Homage to Detroit

Big Sean performed a three-song set and amazed the audience with a beautiful performance. His set includes the new track “On Up” as well. 

Patti Smith’s Emotional Tribute 

Patti Smith accepted a special honor for her late husband, Fred “Sonic” Smith, and read Eminem’s heartfelt 2009 love letter to Detroit, connecting the musical legacies of the city’s past and present.

Common’s Dilla Tribute 

Famous Chicago rapper Common paid tribute to Detroit’s late producer J Dilla with a performance of “Didn’t One Know.” People connected with the message and gave him massive applause. 

Slum Village’s Legacy Performance

The hip-hop duo recalled and honored the late members Baatin and J Dilla. They performed “Fail in Love” and “Get Dis Money,” with Illa J joining them on stage at Michigan Central Station reopening. 

The Clark Sisters and Kierra Sheard 

Clark Sisters and Kierra Sheard delivered a soul-strengthening performance with “Livin,” “Blessed & Highly Favored,” and their signature hit, “You Brought the Sunshine.” 

Eminem’s Grand Finale

Eminem closed out the evening with “Welcome 2 Detroit“, followed by Trick Trick, “Not Afraid”, and a spectacular fireworks display that left the audience in awe and capped off a night that celebrated Detroit’s resilience and creativity.
