IPL 2024 is giving us all entertainment, thrills, record-breaking batting and bowling performances, and everything that is possible in cricket. CSK vs LSG was another power-packed match between two high-profile teams.
Chennai has a superpower in the form of the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But this time, the newest team in IPL history gave them the toughest battle. In the end, LSG won the match by six wickets.
CSK vs LSG Highlights
In the 39th IPL match, LSG took on Chennai Super Kings at their home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. LSG won the toss and elected to bowl first against the powerful Chennai Super Kings.
Chennai lost their first wicket quickly when Rahane gave his wicket to Matt Hendry. He scored only a single after facing three balls. Daryl Mitchell joined Ruturaj Gaikwad after Rahane went back.
Mitchell and Gaikwad built an excellent partnership to recover from the initial blows. However, Mitchell also lost his wicket in the sixth over after scoring 11 runs on ten balls. Dhoni sent Jadeja to proceed with the CSK innings, but he was also not looking in the form.
Since Gaikwad was hitting from one side, Jadeja tried to play runner ball to assist the skipper. However, Jaddu also lost his wicket in the 12th over.
Dube and Gaikwad
Usually, a wicket gives advantage to the bowling side. But this time, taking a wicket proved wrong for LSG. Dube joined the party, and both Dube and Gaikwad started brutally. Skipper completed his hundred while Dube reached his half-century.
Both the batsmen played like demons and took their team to over hundred runs. Shivam Dube scored 66 runs off just 27 balls. While, Gaikwad went not out after smashing 108 runs on 60 balls. Dube’s inning was decorated with seven sixes and three fours. At the same time, Gaikwad hits three sixes and 12 fours.
MSD also scored four runs with a strike rate of 400. Yeah, he played only one ball and hit a boundary on the only ball he played.
LSG bowling
Lucknow’s bowling was not very impressive today. Matt Henry was the only bowler who left some impact on the CSK vs LSG match. Mohsin Khan bowled one of his worst spells today and spent runs with 12.50 economy.
LSG Batting
In response to CSK’s 210 runs, LSG did not get a good start. Quinton de Kock lost his wicket in the first over without scoring a run. Skipper Rahul also departed early after scoring 16 on 14 balls.
However, after losing two early wickets, Stoinis and Padikkal took charge. Stoinis started playing superb shots and soon built a 50-run partnership with Padikkal. Unfortunately, Padikkal also did not assist him well and lost his wicket for a personal total of 13 runs.
Nicholas Pooran, the next man on the crease, gave Stoinis open hands to express himself. They built a 70+-run partnership and ensured LSG’s victory.
Nicholas scored 34 runs on 15 balls before losing his wicket to Pathirana. However, Stoinis, with Deepak Hooda, took CSK to the winning total. Lucknow won the CSK vs LSG match by six wickets and three balls remaining.
