According to the reports by local media houses, twin bomb blasts took place today near Top General Qassem Soleimani’s grave. The blasts have killed over 100 Iranian civilians, according to a recent report by The Times of India

Nearly two hundred civilians were injured in two consecutive explosions near the tomb of top general Qassem Soleimani in Kerman. The blasts occurred on Wednesday during a ceremony dedicated to Soleimani. It was the event of General Soleimani’s fourth death anniversary. 

Earlier reports claimed the death of about 70 civilians due to the bomb blasts in Iran. However, the number of total dead people due to the blasts is constantly increasing. As per a recent report, the death toll from twin bomb blasts in Iran has reached 100. 

According to the local media houses, it was a pre-planned terrorist attack. However, no terrorist organization has taken responsibility for the blasts yet. 

The number of total deaths is continuously rising, and officials are trying to hospitalize the victims of blasts. According to the Head of Kerman province Red Crescent, Reza Fallah has said, “our rapid response teams are evacuating the injured. But there are waves of crowds blocking roads.” 

Who was General Qassem Soleimani? 

Qassem Soleimani was an Iranian military officer who served in the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps). He was the commander of the Quds Force, a branch of IRGC, and primarily responsible for extraterritorial and clandestine military operations. 

General Soleimani was an active member of the Iranian force during the Iran and Iraq war. He fought many battles for his country and won awards like the Order of Zolfaghar and the Order of Fath. However, for some nations and organizations, Qassem was not a man with a clear character. 

Who Killed General Qassem Soleimani? 

General Soleimani was assassinated by a U.S. drone at the age of 62 years. It was a planned U.S. air strike to eliminate Gen. Soleimani, the head of Iran’s elite Quds Force. He was killed at Baghdad airport.
