A 4.3 magnitude earthquake in Pakistan on Wednesday has been reported. Pakistan officials or media channels have not reported any serious damage till now. 

This is the second time Pakistan has faced a medium-intensity earthquake within two months. Following the earthquake in China, a 4.3 magnitude quake hit various regions of Pakistan, including the Jammu and Kashmir regions.

According to Pakistan’s National Center for Seismology (NCS), the depth of the earthquake was about 10 kilometers. 

When did the earthquake occur? 

The National Center for Seismology has reported the time of the earthquake through a post on X, formally known as Twitter. 

They mentioned in their X post that an earthquake of Magnitude 4.3 Occurred on 24-1-2024. The agency also mentioned the 16:16:41 IST time of the earthquake. According to the NCS, the earthquake in Pakistan had a depth of 10 kilometers.

No serious damage

The Pakistani government or the media agencies have not reported any serious damage due to the tremors. As per the news, tremors have not caused any casualty or property damage in Jammu or other neighboring states. 

However, the earthquake has impacted the buildings internally. The tremors have weakened the roots of properties. 

This is the second time, from December to January, that Pakistan has faced an earthquake. A 5.8 magnitude earthquake occurred in December in Pakistan. The epicenter of this earthquake was the Jammu and Kashmir region. 

The earthquake had a depth of almost 133 km, which is far higher than the recent earthquake. Pakistan often experiences such natural accidents due to its geographical location. 

The most dangerous earthquake occurred in 2005, which killed about 74,000 people.
