Indian middle order shines in India vs. Afghanistan first T20 match in Mohali. Men in Blue won the series opener easily. 

Today, India and Afghanistan were face to face in the first T20 match in Mohali. In a match filled with cold and fog, India easily chased the target of 159 runs in just 17.3 overs. Shivam Dubey played a brilliant innings of 60 runs in 40 balls. Nabi scored the highest 42 runs for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan highlights 

Earlier, host India won the toss and invited the guests to bat first. The match started with Arshdeep Singh Medan over, and Afghanistan took a very slow start in the first t20. 

After the powerplay, Afghani openers tried to increase the speed of runs. However, Axar did not allow their plans to succeed. The spinner took the wicket of Gurbaz soon after Afghanistan reached a total of 50 runs. 

After this, Shivam Dubey gave a big blow to Afghanistan by dismissing the dangerous Ibrahim Zadran. After this, no Afghan player could stay on the crease for long, and Afghanistan could score only 158 runs in 20 overs. 

Nabi’s quick 42 runs in the middle overs took Afghanistan to a respectable score. Cameos by Najibullah and Karim Janat also helped the Afghanistan team reach this score.

Mukesh and Axar took two wickets each. Shivam Dubey also got one important wicket of Ibrahim Zadran. 

India highlights 

India had a very unfortunate start, and captain Rohit returned to the pavilion without opening the account. Rohit lost his important wicket in the form of a runout. After Rohit, the guilty Shubhman Gill took the charge and scored quick 23 runs with five fours. 

Number three batsman Tilak Varma also started well and scored 26 fast runs on just 22 balls. Shubhman Gill got dismissed by Mujeeb when the team was on only 28 runs. Tilak also went back to the dressing room for a total team score of 72 runs. 

In this India vs Afghanistan first T20 match, Shivam Dubey showed his class in batting as well. Dubey scored 60 important runs on just 40 balls with five fours and two sixes. Jitesh and Rinku concluded the match by scoring 31 and 16 runs each.
