IPL Final 2024 May Be Suspended: Read Why?

The looming threat of a cyclone and heavy rainfall could potentially force the suspension of the IPL final 2024. This natural disaster, expected to hit the Bay of Bengal on Sunday, could not only disrupt the match but also significantly impact the weather conditions.

Cricket enthusiasts from all corners of the globe are eagerly awaiting the TATA IPL 2024. The air is thick with anticipation as fans gear up to witness the climactic showdown of the Grand Cricket League, ready to rally behind their beloved teams.

Table-topper Kolkata Knight Riders are ready to take on the most destructive team of 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad. Fans are also excited for the IPL final match on Sunday, May 26.

Amid all the excitement, hopes, and prayers, some news about the match suspension has increased tensions. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a Cyclone advisory. According to the department, the Cyclone can hit the Bay of Bengal today and impact several states of the country.

Although the cyclone will not directly impact the match to be held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, rain can create problems. The chances are higher as the rain can also impact reserve days.

What will happen if the IPL final match gets suspended?

There are three main possibilities for disruption in the Tata IPL Final 2024. Rain may partially affect the match on Sunday. If this occurs, the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method will be used to shorten the game or choose the winning team.

Secondly, the rain can completely wash out today’s game. In this scenario, both the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad will be asked to play on Monday, the reserve day.

Lastly, the worst that can happen is the rain ruins both the scheduled and reserve day matches. In this situation, the winner will be announced based on their points or position on the points table. In other words, KKR will be the winner if the rain washes out both games.
