On the very second day and third match of IPL 2024, fans witnessed a high-scoring thrill between Kolkata and Hyderabad. Andrew Russel played a killer knock in the KKR vs SRH Saturday clash.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders played their first match in IPL 2024. In a close battle, Kolkata won the KKR vs SRH match by just four runs. Russel and Salt delivered phenomenal innings, securing a match-winning performance for Kolkata.
Heinrich Klaasen, on the other hand, staged a resilient fight, keeping SRH’s hopes alive until the very last ball. T. Natrajan grabbed three wickets for Hyderabad, while Harshit Rana took three crucial wickets for KKR, making him their top wicket-taker.
KKR vs SRH Full Highlights
Sunrisers Hyderbad’s captain, Pat Cummins, won the toss and elected to bat first. KKR openers Salt and Narine gave their team a slow and steady start. However, when Kolkata was on 23, the dangerous Narine got run out. He returned to the dressing room after scoring two runs on four balls.
The new KKR batsman, Venkatesh Iyer, didn’t contribute much, losing his wicket after scoring just seven runs. T. Natarajan dismissed him.
While Salt was trying to secure one end, other KKR batsmen were just coming and going. Similarly, skipper Shreyas Iyer also returned to the the pavilion even without adding a single to his and his team’s accounts.
Nitish Rana, with one boundary, supported Salt for some minutes. However, he also went back after adding 9 runs to the scoreboard. The next batsman, Ramandeep, played some sensible cricket and built a 50+-run partnership with Salt. Raman scored 35 runs on 17 balls by hitting one boundary and four sixes.
After Ramandeep’s departure, Russel joined Salt. Both players started hitting hard. However, Salt lost his wicket soon after scoring 54 runs on 40 balls. He hit three fours and three sky-high sixes.
Now Rinku came on to the crease and started his fearless game. After facing 15 balls and hitting 3 boundaries, Rinku played a crucial 23-run inning. Russel finished the game for KKR. He scored 64 runs on just 25 balls, with 7 big sixes and 3 fours.
Natarajan got three wickets for Hyderabad, while Markande got 2.
SRH Batting
SRH’s opening pair gave their team a solid start. Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma scored 60 runs for the first wicket. On a total score of 60 runs, Rana sent Mayank back to the dressing room. Mayank scored 32 runs on 21 balls, with four fours and 1 six.
Like his opening partner, Abhishek Sharma scored 32 runs after playing 19 balls. Abhishek hit four fours and two sixes. The new man on the crease, Rahul Tripathi, took his time and focused on a partnership with Aiden Markram. However, Markram lost his wicket after scoring just 18 runs on 13 balls, with two fours.
After scoring 20 runs on 20 balls, Tripathi also went back to the pavilion. Klassen came when the the KKR vs SRH match completely shifted to Kolkata’s side. With eight sky-high sixes, Klassen scored 63 runs on just 29 balls.
Abdul Samad, 15, and Shahbaz Ahmad, 16, contributed a little. When Rana sent Klassen back to the dressing room, Hyderabad was about to win the KKR vs SRH match. Klassen back to the pavilion when his team was just four runs behind the winning number.
In the end, SRH lost their first in IPL 2024.
