MI vs RR: Hatrick For Hardik Pandya and MI

Mumbai Indians lost their third match in a row against Rajasthan Royals. In MI vs RR, the entire Mumbai batting lineup presented a really flop show. They looked clueless and were playing like they were in the net practice. 

Neither Rohit Sharma nor Hardik Pandya, no one took responsibility for at least opening MI’s account. This defeat cost them valuable points and resulted in a dent in their net run rate.

Highlights 

In the 14th match of IPL 2024, Mumbai Indians faced off against Rajasthan Royals at their home ground, Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. So far, all the home teams except for Royal Challengers Bangalore have won their matches this season. However, Mumbai Indians couldn’t keep up with this trend in the MI vs RR match. 

Rajasthan Royals won the match easily with just 15.3 overs and six wickets in hand. Riyan Parag, the man in form, played a 54 runs’ match-winning innings for Rajasthan. Experienced Trent Boult also contributed with the bowl and took three crucial wickets. 

For Mumbai Indians, no player took the responsibility to at least build a partnership and stay some time on the ground. Hardik Pandya was the highest scorer for Mumbai, who played a 34 runs in short innings. 

Three main batsmen of Mumbai Indians went back to the dressing without scoring a run. Akash Madhwal tried to save MI with balls but unfortunately his efforts went waste. MI lost the MI vs RR match badly. 

Match Summary 

The highly competitive Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals clashed in the 14th match of IPL 2024. Despite Rajasthan Royals leading the points table and Mumbai Indians struggling at the bottom, fans were anticipating an exciting game.

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and invited the home team, MI, to bat first. Mumbai Indians got two blows in the first over when former captain Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir returned without scoring a run. 

Boult, who took the initial two wickets, was on fire even in his second wicket and took the wicket of Brevis as well. Burger also joined the party and, in the very next over, sent Ishan Kishan back to the dressing room. 

The MI vs RR match seemed to be tilting in Rajasthan’s favor until Pandya and Tilak stepped up to form a partnership. They managed to stabilize Mumbai’s innings, taking the score to 76 runs without losing any more wickets. However, once Pandya was dismissed, Mumbai’s batting lineup faltered again.

Thanks to the efforts of Pandya and Verma, Mumbai set a target of 126 runs for Rajasthan to chase.

Boult proved to be instrumental for RR, taking three crucial wickets and dismantling Mumbai’s batting order. Nandre Burger also contributed with two wickets during his four-over spell.

Rajasthan Batting 

Rajasthan also did not get a very good start. They lost their first wicket in the first over in the form of Jaiswal. Samson and Butler tried to build a partnership and played some good cricket. Soon Sanju went back, and Butler also followed Sanju when the team was on 42. He scored just 13 runs. 

After Jos, Ashwin, and Parag tried to build a partnership and took the team to 88 runs. Ashwin lost his wicket on a personal score of 16 runs. However, Parag was still there and came back after securing a win for RR.
