In a recent interview with Times of India, actress Ileana D’CruzD’Cruz revealed that she is going through postpartum depression. In her interview, she talked about different aspects of her life. She spoke about Michael Molan and tagged him as a nice person. Also, Ileana was seen avoiding questions about marriage and said not to talk much about it.

However, the most important thing that Ileana revealed and which is currently in discussion is that she is currently suffering from a type of depression. 

What is postpartum depression? 

It is a psychological condition associated with childbirth. It is not a condition that a child experiences; postpartum depression is a condition that mothers can experience.

Most mothers face many difficulties during the pregnancy period and childbirth. Sometimes, in some cases, when the baby is born, mothers remain in a problematic situation, which is known as postpartum depression.

Ileana D’cruzD’cruz has also welcomed a baby in 2023, and that has resulted in a kind of depression for the actress. 

What are the symptoms of postpartum depression? 

The symptoms of this emotional health condition may differ from one mother to another. They can range from moderate to severe in different cases.

Severe postpartum depression symptoms

Specific severe symptoms can also occur in the case of postpartum depression. The severe symptoms can interfere with the patient’s daily life activities and last longer; 

Severe symptoms may include; 

  • Depressed mood or severe mood swings
  • Difficulty bonding with your baby
  • Withdrawing from family and friends
  • Inability to sleep, also known as insomnia
  • Loss of appetite or eating much more
  • Loss of interest even in the things which were favorite 
  • Feelings of worthlessness and guilt

When to see a doctor? 

Certain symptoms of this condition are normal after baby birth. These symptoms usually disappear on their own over time. However, if your symptoms are persistent even after a couple of weeks of delivery, you should meet your doctor.
