Royal Challengers Bengaluru has secured its fifth consecutive win and a better spot in IPL points table. With the victory against Delhi Capitals, RCB’s hopes for the playoffs are still alive.
RCB is on track with another victory in IPL 2024 against the Delhi Capitals. They won RCB vs DC by a considerable margin to secure fifth position in the IPL points table. Though the mission has not yet been accomplished, the race is still challenging for them.
However, for RCB fans and players, this victory will work as a booster dose and will help them play the forthcoming game with full potential.
RCB vs DC Highlights
Delhi Captain Akshar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
Once again, Kohli and Du Plessis came to open for the Challengers. However, they could not maintain the momentum they had achieved in the last few matches this time. Skipper Faf du Plessis lost his wicket early against Ishant Sharma.
Virat Kohli, the hero of the previous game, also departed early after hitting three sixes and one boundary to score 27 runs. Patidar and Will Jacks played good cricket for RCB in the middle order to change the momentum for RCB.
Bengaluru scored 187 runs in 20 overs after losing nine wickets. Cameron Green’s fast 32 runs innings also contributed well.
Delhi Capitals had a terrible start in the RCB vs DC match. Although they could still score 14 runs, considering the net run rate, it was also a do-or-die game for DC to improve their position in the IPL points table.
DC lost four wickets in powerplay for a total of 30 runs. Captain Akshar tried to lead from the front and played a good innings. Unfortunately, no other batsman assisted him well.
DC lost all their wickets in 19.1 overs and RCB vs DC by 47 runs.
IPL Points table calculation for RCB
The victory against Delhi Capitals has ensured that RCB is still in the race for the playoffs. However, KKR, RR, CSK, SRH, and even LSG are better positioned than RCB. The losing team, Delhi Capitals, is also still in the race to reach 14 points.
To maintain their position in the playoff race, RCB will have to win their forthcoming match against CSK. If they win with a significant margin, Chennai will be disqualified based on net run rate. However, this alone will not guarantee RCB a spot in the playoffs.
Based on the current net run rate, if DC wins their next match against LSG, Bengaluru will secure a playoff spot with 14 points and a positive net run rate.
Please note that this calculation may change if RCB loses its next match against CSK or wins with a narrow margin.
