RCB won another match, ruling out another team from the playoffs race in IPL 2024. However, things are not easy for Bengaluru even after securing victory in the RCB vs PBKS match. They still need some magic to secure a spot in the final four.
Bengaluru dominated the opposition in the RCB vs PBKS match, winning easily with a massive margin, much like their previous couple of matches. However, despite their dominance, RCB is not finding any clear paths to enter the playoffs.
RCB vs PBKS Highlights
No matter the circumstances, a team with Virat Kohli always has an advantage. And if you drop two catches of King Kohli, only divine intervention can save you. Kohli single-handedly dismantled the Punjab bowling attack in RCB vs PBKS.
Punjab fought hard to stage a comeback in the match, but Kohli’s dominance kept them at bay. While batting, the king scored an impressive 92 runs off just 47 balls, including six sixes and seven fours. Contributions from Patidar and Green, with 55 and 46 runs, further supported RCB’s total.
Setting a mammoth target of 241 runs for PBKS, RCB left Punjab struggling, with the latter ending up with just 181 runs on the board.
Punjab played a very poor game in their do-or-die match and lost the battle by 60 runs. Rilee Rossouw was the only man who at least tried to win. Bengaluru’s bowling was not good in this match as well, but Punjab lost all its wickets for just 181 runs.
Virat Kohli received the player of the match award for his fantastic batting and fielding. After playing a 92-run-blasting innings in RCB vs PBKS, he strengthened his position on the top of the orange cap.
RCB Playoffs Race
We understand that revisiting the Happy Mile after witnessing your favorite team’s performance brings a sense of comfort. This recent victory, however, hasn’t brought about any significant changes. It has kept the hopes alive for the RCB team and its fans.
Despite the win, RCB remains in 7th position on the points table, with six other teams currently in better positions.
It seems improbable that Bengaluru will surpass Kolkata or Rajasthan. Therefore, their aspirations hinge on the performances of Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, and Lucknow.
For RCB to secure a spot in the playoffs, they must win their upcoming matches against Delhi and Chennai. Additionally, Delhi and Chennai must lose all their remaining matches, while Lucknow needs to lose at least one of their upcoming games. This series of outcomes would pave the way for RCB’s entry into the playoffs.
