Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians Highlights

The home team won the toss at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Chandigarh. Punjab Kings decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Mumbai Indians batting

Mumbai Indians did not get a good start in the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match. Ishan Kishan continued his poor performance and lost his wicket to Rabada. He scored eight off eight before taking his place.

The next man on the crease, Suryakumar Yadav, joined former captain Rohit Sharma and shifted the pressure to PBKS. Surya and Rohit build a solid partnership to recover from the early wicket and take their team to a good total.

Sam Curran dismissed Rohit Sharma when he was playing on 36 runs after facing 25 balls. Sharma’s short but impactful inning was decorated with three sixes and three fours.

Even after losing Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar did not let the run rate go down. He played a crucial 78 runs inning off 53 balls. However, this strike rate does not suit SKY but the way the pitch was behaving it was a decent inning.

With Tilak’s 34 runs contribution, MI scored 192 runs in 20 overs.

Punjab Bowling

Punjab’s bowling was not very impressive today. Even after taking Ishan’s early wicket, they did not stop MI on a lower score. Harshal Patel got three wickets, but not at the right time. Sam Curran also got two crucial wickets.

Punjab Kings Batting

The PBKS top order completely disappoints the fans in this Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match. Their top four batsmen don’t even reach the second digit.

Sam Curran scored 6, Prabhsimran 0, Rilee Rossouw 1, and Liam Livingston went back after scoring one run. However, Harpreet Bhatia reached the second digit, and he also lost his wicket to Gopal after scoring 13 runs off 15 balls.

Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Rana kept Punjab’s hopes alive for some time. However, once they went back, Punjab lost the battle. Singh scored 41 runs off just 25 balls, with three sixes and two fours. Ashutosh, on the other hand, played an important inning off just 28 balls. He smashed seven towering sixes and two fours.

However, in the end, the home team lost the Punjab Kings vs Mumbai Indians match by nine runs.

Mumbai Bowling

MI bowled really well and pushed Punjab on the back foot from the very first over. Coetzee got three wickets, and boom, boom, Bumrah also got the same number.

Akash Madhwal, Hardik Pandya, and Shreyas Iyer also got one wicket each.
